Elizabeth ‘Betty’ Gunion, 88, longtime resident of Grand Junction, more recently of Hiawatha. Services: Saturday, Aug. 24, at 2 pm at Slininger-Schroeder  Funeral Home, Jefferson 515-386-2171. Interment: Dawson Township Cemetery. Survivors: children Mark Gunion, Doug (Carleen) Gunion, Beth (Alan) Tribble, and Lisa (Matt) Gunion-Rinker; sister-in-law Mavis Busch; and other relatives and friends.

Sandy Scheuermann, 65, of Scranton. Services: Wednesday, Aug. 21, at 11 am at Slininger-Schroeder Funeral Home, Jefferson,  515-386-2171. Interment: Franklin Township Cemetery at Cooper. Visitation: Tuesday from 5 to 7 pm. Survivors: husband Gary; children Tim (Denise) Scheuermann of Halbur, Dan (Kathy) Scheuermann of Jefferson, Matt Scheuermann and Tammy (Brian) Fagen of Carroll,  Rod (Laura) Scheuermann of Scranton,  and Tracey Scheuermann of Gaston, SC; 19 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; brothers Rick (Debbie) Rice of Florence, SC, and Jim Rice of Scranton; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

William (Bill) F. Lawton, 86, of Sun Lakes, AZ, and Jefferson, passed away at Archstone Care Center on July 12, 2019. Services: Saturday, Aug. 24, at 11 am at First United Methodist Church in Jefferson. Visitation: one hour prior to the service. Celebration of Life luncheon following the service at the church. Interment: private ceremony at the Jefferson Municipal Cemetery.  Bill is survived by his wife, Jo Ella (Shearman); sons Craig Lawton and his wife Alexandra Lanza of Daniel Island, SC, Kurt Lawton and his partner Shelli Baufield of Eden Prairie, MN,  Tom Lawton and his wife Cae of Jefferson, and Rob Lawton and his partner Cesar Montoya of Annapolis, MD; grandchildren Seth Lawton and wife Carol of Carlisle, PA, Brad Lawton and wife Jacalyn of Houston, TX, Nick Lawton of Columbus, OH, Monica Lawton of Oakland, CA, Matt Lawton of Truckee, CA, Tanner Lawton and wife Amber of Jefferson, Tiffany (Lawton) Sohm and husband Wade of Grand Junction, andTrevor Lawton of Jefferson; and great-grandchildren Lily, Ella, Tate, Harper, Hudson and Marcus. Two brothers are also surviving: Don Lawton and wife Elise of Houston, TX, and Bob Lawton and wife Bea of Waukee, IA. Slininger Schroeder Funeral Home, 515-386-2171, is assisting the family. Instead of flowers, Bill and family request memorial donations to Greenbrier United Methodist Church (2203 J Ave., Bagley, IA 50026) and GiGi’s Play House, a Downs Syndrome Achievement Center (6507 University Ave., Windsor Heights, IA 50324).
