Flack gets zoning exemption for sequel event

River Farm Summer Bash- The Sequel will proceed this Saturday as planned, with the correct zoning for the event.

County zoning coordinator Chuck Wenthold granted River Farm Recreation owner Craig Flack a two-day exemption to the current agricultural zoning when the board of adjustment was unable to set a meeting date to consider Flack’s request. According to Wenthold, the zoning coordinator has that authority when the board can’t meet to respond to a time-sensitive request.

Wenthold earlier this month sent Flack a cease and desist letter for public events at the 300-acre site west of Jefferson. The first Summer Bash, held June 22, led to a law enforcement nightmare when a thunderstorm prompted many of the attendees to leave at the same time. Although no alcoholic beverages were sold at the ticketed event, alcohol contributed to several enforcement issues.

Flack told the county supervisors on July 22, after receiving the cease and desist letter, that he’s been targeted by law enforcement.

Promotion for the sequel Summer Bash says the event will include a slip-and-slide, a cornhole tournament, a foam party, “and more.” The event will run from 11 am to 11 pm.
