A nine-run fifth inning propelled the North Polk (Alleman) Comets to an 11-0 win over Greene County Thursday night.

The Rams had three hits — all singles from Brent Riley, Bruce Stadler and Tyler Teeples — and didn’t advance anyone past first base.

Teeples took the loss for the Rams, and gave up 12 hits to the Comets, who became co-champions of the Heart of Iowa Conference with the win.

In contrast, the Rams finished 4-10 in conference play.

The team suffered another setback Friday night with a 12-2 loss to Carroll High.

The Rams recorded five errors and gave up 11 hits to the Tigers, with starting pitcher Brent Riley taking the loss. The Tigers scored six unearned runs against the Rams.

Tyler Teeples, Joe Anderson and Nick Breon recorded hits for Greene County.

Now 9-20, the Rams have played their last home game of the season. The Rams play on the road against Bondurant-Farrar on Monday.
