Rippey Wind Energy donates to animal shelter

The Greene County Animal Facility recently received a donation of $1,000 from Rippey Wind Energy LLC (RWE) on behalf of its wind farm located in the southeast corner of Greene County.

RWE began commercial operations of its 50 MW wind farm in November of 2012 with twenty (20) Nordex 2.5 MW turbines capable of generating annually enough electricity for roughly 15,000 homes.

Headquartered in De Soto, IA, RWE’s operations manager Aaron Theisen said, “We are pleased to continue our support of Greene County with this donation”.

This is another substantial donation offered by RWE as it has previously supported the Friends of Rippey on refurbishing work at Rippey’s baseball diamond, and other local groups and projects.

Don Orris, spokesperson for coordination of the fundraising efforts expressed appreciation, noting the funding for the Facility is nearing the half way point.
The upcoming Amazing Race for Charity, to be held Sept. 7 in Jefferson, will be contributing all profits generated to the animal facility.

Funds for the facility are being generated through private contributions with no tax dollars involved.
