Churdan library tells summer plans

The Churdan public library staff shares the summer schedule for the library.

Wednesday, June 12 through July 17, programming will use the summer reading theme “Universe of Stories.”

Wednesdays will start with Baby and Me story time from 9 to 9:20 am. Baby and Me is for children younger than 2; adults must accompany the children.

From 9:30 t 10:30 am story time activities will be geared for a preschool audience. Any child may attend, but activities will be simple.

From 1:30 to 2:30 pm activities will be age appropriate for children in grades K-4. Again, any child may attend, but activities will be a little more complex.

Reading Buddies will be held from 2:45 to 3:15 pm. Reading Buddies is for any age child, and provides a special opportunity for young children to read aloud or to be read to by an older child or adult.

Special events are as follows:

Wednesday, July 24: Reading Buddy party, 1:30 pm. To attend the Ready Buddy party, children must have attended the Reading Buddy program.

Sunday, July 28: Iowa Cubs Homerun Reader, 1 pm at Principal Park in Des Moines. Free tickets will be available at the library and can be picked up the week before the game. Attendees must find their own transportation.

Wednesday, July 31: Glidden pool field trip- time to be announced. To qualify for the trip children must check out at least 10 books and visit the library at least twice during the summer.

The library has passes for the Blank Park Zoo for children ages 3-12. The passes are good any time.
