‘Chews Jefferson’

Lunch on Wednesdays will be a special time in Jefferson’s downtown, with an added attraction to the daily Tower Tunes Live concerts at the Mahanay Memorial Carillon Tower.

Each Wednesday in June, a different downtown restaurant will offer a $5 box lunch special. The lunch will need to be ordered after 11 am and will be available to pick up by noon at that restaurant. Persons can then find a spot to listen to the Tower Tunes Live concert from 12:15 to 12:30 pm. Rick Morain will play for several Wednesday events and may even play the painted piano following Tower Tunes Live.

Restaurants with the $5 box lunch specials are:
June 5 – Uptown Café with the “Half Note” Bell Tower Sandwich, “Ballad” Pasta Salad, and “Key of C” Cookie. Please call ahead at 386-4979 to order.
June 12 – Breadeaux Pizza with “Pitch Perfect” Pizza – a single topping personal pan pizza or calzone. Please call ahead at 386-2039.
June 19 – Peony Chinese Restaurant with “Concerto” Chinese. Please call ahead at 386-3928.
June 26 – Doc’s Stadium with “Harmony” Hamburger Slider. Please call ahead 386-2111.

Drinks are not included with the $5 box lunch.

Those involved can gather on the Bell Tower Plaza, Thomas Jefferson Gardens, Sally’s Alley, or wherever they would like to enjoy the concert.

The promotion committee of Jefferson Matters: Main Street is working with the Bell Tower Community Foundation to offer this event. If there is enough interest, perhaps other restaurants in Jefferson would like to offer a similar special. Lynda Cochran and Angie Reese-Heuser are chairing this promotion.

Persons who want complete details about this program can contact Peg Raney at Jefferson Matters: Main Street’s office at 110 W Lincoln Way, call 515-385-3585 or email director@jeffersonmatters.org.
