Veronica Turner, 1920 – 2019

Veronica Turner, 98, of Jefferson passed away May 13, 2019, at the Greene County Medical Center.

Father John Gerald of St. Joseph Catholic Church presided at the graveside service held Monday, May 20, at St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Josh Monthei provided music, singing “On Eagle’s Wings”. Honorary bearers were her grandchildren Chad Turner, Mistie Schau, Cara Park, Meghan Anderson, Kelly Carlson, and Beth Turner.

Veronica M. Turner was born to Frank and Elizabeth Cudahy Tiffany on December 16, 1920 at a farm in Hardin Township, Greene County. She was the youngest of five children and attended country school at Hardin Number 2 until she moved to a farm near Dana in the eighth grade.

Veronica graduated from Dana Consolidated School in 1938 and went on to attend nurses training at St. Anthony Hospital in Carroll. She became a Registered Nurse in 1942 and enjoyed taking care of her patients at Greene County Hospital and Jefferson Manor throughout her career.

Veronica married Roger Turner at St. Joseph Church in Jefferson on June 4, 1946. Veronica and Roger were the loving parents of Gary, Larry (Judy), and Dan (Denise). She also has six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Veronica was an exceptionally loving mother and grandmother. She would take her grandchildren on local excursions each summer (Swan Lake was always a hit) and they were lucky to be able to spend quality time with her and Roger throughout their lives. She hosted dinner every Wednesday after catechism and her homemade noodles were simply the best!

Thank you for the memories, Mom / Grandma! We are blessed to have had many amazing years with you, and knowing you are back in Grandpa’s arms brings us great peace.

Memorials in Veronica’s name may be given to the family to be used as a scholarship for a nursing student.

Slininger-Schroeder Funeral Home assisted the family.
