Rotary funds purchase of new AED at rec center

A 20-year-old automatic external defibrillator (AED) at the Greene County Community Center has been replaced through a grant from the Rotary Club of Jefferson. The $1,814 purchase price included child patches.

The AED will be located on the desk in the upstairs fitness room, close to members who ae working out, JPRD director Vicky Lautner said. The old AED was in need of a new battery and new pads, which have become difficult to find due to the age of the device.

Pictured (from left) are Rotarians Doug Rieder and Jacque Andrew, JPRD wellness coordinator Simeon Lang with the new AED, Rotary Club president Carol Durbin, and Rotarian Jonathan Law.

“We’re very appreciative of Rotary for helping us purchase this needed equipment,” Lautner said.

The funds are from the proceeds of Rotary’s annual dinner and charity auction. The 2019 event is slated for Friday, Nov. 8.
