Cedar-Highland repeats as 4-H hoops champion

Not even the winter weather of 2019 could dampen the spirits of the Greene County youngsters coming together to play basketball on Sunday, March 10, at the Scranton Community Center.

The Greenbrier 4-H club’s annual Greene County 4-H basketball tournament included these 4-H clubs: Cedar Highland, Junction Food Producers, two teams from the Hardin Happy Hustlers, and two teams from Greenbrier 4-H. The Cedar Highland 4-H club was congratulated for repeating this year as the overall winner.

Members of the 2019 Cedar-Highland basketball team were (front, from left) Bryce Stephenson, Wesley Fiedler, Kayliah Minnihan, Paisley Allen and McKinley Robbins; and (back, from left) Megan Palmer, Karissa Stephenson, Carmyn Paup, Chloe Berns, Lizzy Allen, Cody Allen, Jesse Miller and Jake Wolterman.

The day of basketball was aided by our expert ref Dave Dideriksen, assisted at the scoreboard by Ricky Stephenson and Joshua Hedges. Dave was rewarded by receiving a pie made by Olivia Shannon, one of the Greenbrier members. Once again, the Greenbrier club thanks Dave, Ricky, Joshua and all of the others that helped make another Greene County 4-H event successful.
