Ram wrestlers face some of Iowa’s best at state tourney

Both Greene County wrestlers at the state wrestling tournament ended their seasons Friday before the quarterfinal matches.

In the first round at 170 pounds, Ram senior Brock Wuebker (26-6) was seeded against Colter Bye (46-2) of Crestwood. Bye won by fall in 4:55. In the first consolation round wrestleback Wuebker faced Heart of Iowa rival Aiden Carr (42-8) of Gilbert. Carr won by fall in 1:16 and Wuebker was finished competing.

Bye went on to lose in the semifinal round to Sage Walker (47-0) of Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont) and then win by decision in the fourth consolation round over Spencer Mooberry (52-6) of Osage.

Ram senior Bryce Hoyle (11-7), wrestling at 195, was seeded in the first round against Julien Broderson (52-0) of Assumption. Hoyle lost by fall in 0:46. Hoyle won by decision in the first consolation round wrestleback against Reid Walters (17-10) of Chariton. Hoyle lost in the second round consolation wrestleback to Thomas Bentley (28-4) of Red Oak by fall in 2:45.

Broderson went on to win by fall in the quarterfinal round over Logan Escher of Washington. Broderson won n the semifinal round over Noah Bandstra of Eat Marshall. Both wins were by fall, in 0:42 in the quarterfinal and in 2:10 in the semifinal.
