Time for community input on Arch Alley

Jefferson Matters: Main Street’s Tower View Team invites area residents to “Be a Part of the Arch”.

Community members are invited to participate and learn more about Arch Alley, the north alley renovation in downtown Jefferson. The Arch Alley workshop will be facilitated by artist David Williamson of Ogden. Many may know Williamson as a Jefferson alumnus and as artist of the Jefferson library sculpture.

Everyone interested is encouraged to attend one of the community workshops Thursday, Jan. 31, either at 2 pm or 7 pm at the Jefferson city hall. Each workshop will last an hour. This opportunity is open to all residents of Greene County. Williamson will lead the groups through collaboration for the third arch design representing the community.

The Tower View Team values all ideas for this collaborative piece of public art created by the public. The Tower View Team has designed one of the arches. Students from Greene County schools and Paton-Churdan schools have worked with Williamson on the design of the second arch. The January 31 date is the time for the community involvement for ideas for the third arch. “Hope you can join David and TVT members at either or both times,” a Tower View Team spokesperson said.

Arch Alley received funding through a Grow Greene County Grant in 2018. Plans are to have the alley completed in the fall of 2019.
