Greene County district court, week ending Jan. 10

In Greene County district court a judgment was entered Jan. 10
against Jeremy J. Hamilton, 31,of Jefferson after he pleaded guilty to a charge
of reckless driving, amended from operating while intoxicated- first offense. He
was fined $200 with a $70 surcharge. Court costs were $60. (Sentencing: Honorable

Nathaniel James Biggart, 21, of Jefferson was sentenced to two years in prison after he pleaded guilty to one count of unauthorized use of credit card less than $1,000. The prison term was suspended and he was placed on probation for two years. As part of his probation he must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommended treatment at his own expense. Biggart was  fined $625 with a $218.75 surcharge and a $125 Law Enforcement Initiative surcharge. He must also pay $600 restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees and $143.72 court costs. One count of unauthorized use of credit card less than $1,000 was dismissed. (Sentencing: McCarville)

Persons pleaded not guilty at arraignment as follows: Anthony Charles Lange, 37, of Ankeny, burglary- third degree; Travis Christopher Fincel, 44, of Grand Junction, theft- fourth degree; Candice Marie Ortiz, 31, of  Grand Junction, domestic  abuse assault display or use  weapon, possession of methamphetamine; Gregory Jay Hampton, 54, of Johnston, OWI- first offense; Tyler James Smits, 26, of Jefferson,  domestic abuse assault causing injury or mental illness; Kelsy Diane Jean Reed, 27, of Jefferson, assault causing bodily injury or mental illness, assault on persons in certain occupation, harassment- first degree, burglary- first degree; Thomas Noah Gannon, 19, of Rippey, OWI- first offense; Daryn Joseph Mallory, 53, of Jefferson, drug distribution violation to person younger than 18 (two counts), possession of marijuana, supply alcohol to person under legal age; and Beth Anne Laurent, 48, of Grand Junction, theft- second degree. Trial dates were set for  March 5 in every case.

Cases were initiated in district court as follows: Steven Bret Wetzel,49, of Jefferson, possession of methamphetamine; Keenan Lee Olson, 20, of Coon Rapids, carrying weapons; and Juan Carlos Jimenez, 23, of Scranton, possession of marijuana.
