Purchase of new food pantry complete

Future home of the food pantry

The purchase of the former Clark Plumbing & Heating building by the Greene County Christian Action Resource Center for a new food pantry was complete Thursday. The non-profit organization was able to pay for the building in full, but fundraising continues for about $30,000 in needed remodeling and enhancements.

Work dates will be set soon to remove some walls and built-in shelves; repair the ceiling and walls as needed and paint them; remove the carpet; replace doors; and much more.

Persons who would like to help or donate to the project can contact Pastor Julie  Poulsen, chair of the ARC board, at First United Methodist Church in Jefferson, 515-386-4411.
