FFA donates to food pantry

ARC board also accepting donations for new location

The Greene County FFA chapter made its annual holiday donation to the Action Resource Center food pantry this morning. Pictured are FFA members Quinten Schroeder (left) and Cole Betts (right) with Shirley Haupert, who accepted the donation on behalf of the ARC.

As the volunteer Greene County Christian Action Resource Center board is working to be sure the holiday needs of clients are met, it’s also in the midst of a fundraising campaign for its new location on N. Elm St.

The ARC is purchasing the former Clark Plumbing and Heating building. As the number of families served as increased, the current building on E. Harrison St is “bursting at the seams,” according to Pastor Julie Poulsen, board chair. The cramped space has made it impossible to serve clients in the manner the board would like.

Purchase price of the building is $69,000, with an estimated $30,000 needed to remodel the warehouse portion of the building and create adequate parking space.

Persons or organizations that would like to donate funds to the project can mail checks to Greene County Christian Action Resource Center, Carol Zwicky- treasurer, 112 E. Harrison St, Jefferson, IA 50129.

And, of course, donations of non-perishable food items and personal care items are always accepted.
