Santa Claus is coming to town

Santa and Mrs Claus have several visits to Greene County planned in the next few weeks, according to Greene  County Chamber & Tourism.

Next Saturday, Dec. 1, the Clauses will be at the Greene County Community Center in Jefferson for breakfast and pictures with Santa. The breakfast buffet is free for children; there is a charge for adults. There is also a charge for photos. Pre-registration at the community center is requested but not necessary.

Santa will be at the Grand Junction Community Center Sunday, Dec. 2, for Jingle Into Junction. He’ll be ready to listen to wish lists from 5 to 6:30 pm. In addition to Santa time there will be a soup supper, a display and silent auction of Christmas trees, wreaths and stockings, and a drawing for turkeys.

The Clauses return to Jefferson Thursday, Dec. 6, for the Community Christmas Tree lighting at the Greene County Welcome  Center. They’ll arrive at about 6:15 pm to help light the tree.  After that task is accomplished they’ll ride to the top of the Mahanay Memorial Carillon Tower to talk with children as they enjoy the holiday lights.

While families wait for the Clauses they can listen to Christmas stories at the Jefferson public library and at the courthouse, and there will  be carolers to entertain, too.

Before families go home for the evening they can check out residential light displays. Maps will be available showing participating homes.

Santa will return to  the Welcome Center Saturday, Dec. 15, from  10:30 am to 1:30 pm
