Greenbrier family potluck

The Greenbrier 4-H club’s family potluck was held Sunday, Nov. 4, at the Presbyterian Church in Jefferson with 75 parents and members in attendance. This annual event celebrated the accomplishments of the club and its members over the last year.Kara Reed welcomed people, and after the meal, called the meeting to order. Caden Etherton led the introduction of families, and Brian Hardaway and Avery Bardole led an Olympic Q-tip shooting activity.

Kara and Arthur Bardole recounted Greenbrier’s activities for the year and the 25 projects Greenbrier members took to the Iowa State Fair, including Grace Hardaway’s photography “Future Discovery Award” which granted her a $500 scholarship.

Kara, Arthur, Avery, Brian, and Noble Hoyt led the initiation of new members (pictured front, from left)  Nehemiah Joel Schroeder, Nehemiah Hoyt, and Autumn Barrett. They were handed membership cards, the 4-H pledge, and their 4-H record books.

Then Samantha Hardaway, last year’s Greenbrier president, presided over the installation of new officers. Those installed were presidents Kara Reed and Arthur Bardole, vice presidents Taylor Gierstorf and Brian Hardaway, secretaries Conner Allender and Avery Bardole, reporter Bailey Anderson, photographers Colton Mobley and Aden Bardole, historian Amie Schroeder, recreation Kaleah Messer and Cody Stephenson, and greeter –Grace Hardaway and Cayden Stream.

Kara and Arthur handed out tenure certificates. Those were: one year- Sadie Shannon, Kaitlyn Halterman, Becca Anderson, Aden Bardole, Cayden Stream, Dustin Nordin, Kaleah Messer, Colton Mobley, Kasha Lansman, and Nicholas Stream; two years- Elise Badger, Ely Booth, Naphtali Hoyt and Taylor McDowell; three years:-Taylor and Tia Gierstorf, Sadie Gilbertson, Grace Hardaway, Elias Messer, Cody Stephenson and Paige Teeples; four years- Katrina and Natalie Heupel, Noble Hoyt, Olivia Shannon, Josey Weaver, Emma Halterman, Caden Etherton and Bailey Anderson; five years- Amie Schroeder, Justin Stream and Brock Wuebker, six years: Avery Bardole, Jaden Hoyt and Conner Allender; seven years- Brian Hardaway; eight years- Arthur Bardole, Gina Brown, Onica Delp, Mani Jubel and Kara Reed; and nine years- Samantha Hardaway.

Members’ 4-H record books were handed back by Arthur and Kara with each member telling the “most memorable part of their 4-H year.”

Arthur concluded by explaining that 4-H enrollments are due to the Greene County Extension office by Nov. 15 to avoid the $25 late fee.

reenbrier’s next meeting will be Sunday, Dec. 2, at 1 pm at Spare Time Lanes.
