Amazing Race nets $1,755 for BOOST

Members of BOOST (Bringing Optimism and Opportunities to Students and Teachers) accepted a check last week for $1,755 from the organizers of Greene County’s inaugural Amazing Race for Charity.

The Amazing Race for Charity was held Sept. 29, a cold, rainy day in Jefferson. The race started and ended on the south side of the courthouse, but took competitors east to the old Deep Rock station, north to the mural on W. Washington St, south to Russell Park and west to the Greene County Community Center.

Along the way competitors in teams of two had to decipher clues to get to 12 different challenges.

The brother-sister team of Max  and Emily Neese won the race.

BOOST supplements the school district’s budget with funds for “extras” in classrooms, providing “wish list” items to enhance education at all three school buildings.

Next year’s Amazing Race for Charity will benefit a different non-profit, according to organizer Ian Wilkinson. Meanwhile, BOOST has begun planning the second BOOST Bash for Saturday, March 30.
