Letter to the editor – Dick Finch

Thank you, Greene County supervisors, for forward thinking and acting on TIF financing for college campus in Jefferson. Now please back off on any more CAFO building permits.

This TIF financing will help out property owners with some property tax relief …. whew. We need it.

And also thank you city council for the smart spending of the liner for the swimming pool… We need to spend more on our infrastructure that’s deteriorating and less on foolish beautifying Jefferson.  The next project has to be affordable rental housing for Greene  County workers and keep our young people here with employment training, housing, and jobs. These are high priority for growth and without growth there will be less and no new businesses in Greene County.

Let’s try hard to be the one and only small-medium size town in Iowa with growth instead of drying up.

Pillar and college campus will help give us that opportunity. This may be our last chance to do it . Don’t let it slip by again.

Dick Finch, businessman, farmer, lifetime resident of Greene County
