Greene County district court, week ending Sept. 27

In Greene County district court a judgment was entered Sept. 25 against Riley Isaiah Walstrom, 24, of Jefferson after he pleaded guilty to a charge of theft- fifth degree, amended from burglary- third degree. He was sentenced to two days in jail, and he was fined $65 with a $22.75 surcharge and a $125 Law Enforcement Initiative surcharge. He must also pay up to $1,200 restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees. Court costs were $60. (Sentencing: Honorable Joseph B. McCarville)

Jon Michael Johnson, 30, of Jefferson was sentenced to 30 days in jail after he pleaded guilty to charges of assault-serious, amended from domestic abuse assault causing injury, and public intoxication- second offense. All but seven days of the jail time was suspended, and the days are consecutive to jail time in an older Greene County case. He was placed on informal probation for one year. Johnson was fined $315 with a $110.25 surcharge. The judge ruled he is unable to pay restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees. Court costs were $131.50. (Sentencing: McCarville)

Amanda Jo Goodpaster, 31, of Grand Junction was sentenced Sept. 20 to two years in prison after she pleaded guilty to one count of child endangerment. The prison term was suspended and she was placed on unsupervised probation for one year. She was fined $625 with a $218.75 surcharge; both were suspended. Two counts of child endangerment were dismissed. Goodpaster also changed her plea to guilty to a charge of operating while intoxicated- first offense. She was fined $1,250 with a $437.50 surcharge and a $10 surcharge for drug abuse resistance education (DARE). She was sentenced to two days in jail. She may attend the Des Moines Area Community College 48-hour alcohol education program in lieu of the jail time. She must complete the recommendations of a substance abuse evaluation she has already undergone, and she must complete a community college drinking drivers school. Court costs were $296. Cases were initiated in district court as follows: Denise Katherine Beadle, 40, of Jefferson, domestic abuse assault causing injury or mental illness; Jacob Randall Fisher, 27, of Webster city, OWI- first offense and possession of marijuana; Kaden Mikel Lowe, 19, of Grand Junction, trespass causing damage greater than $200 and conspiracy to commit non-forcible felony; Elisha Zechariah Hiram Ward, 18, of Jefferson trespass causing damage greater than $200 and criminal mischief- second degree; Kooper Robert Behrens, 20, of Carroll, criminal mischief- second degree and trespass causing damage greater than $200; and Braxton Payne Holderby, 18, of Jefferson, trespass causing damage greater than $200 and conspiracy to commit non-forcible felony.
