Rams get first v’ball conference win vs Saydel

The Ram varsity volleyball team got its first win in the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference in a convincing 3-0 match against the Saydel Eagles in Jefferson Sept. 20.

Game scores were 25-17, 25-15, 25-12. 

The Rams served at 87.8 percent as a team, off some from their previous two matches. Sophie Havens made eight of eight serves, Paige Heaning made 11 of 12, and Kara Reed made 10 of 11. Aubrey Heupel made 16 o 18 serves with five aces.

The Rams had a total of 31 kills against the Eagles, with Luisa Slompo leading the way with nine. Lilly Muir added seven and Brianna Osterson had six. Heaning, Muir and Osterson had six digs each, and  Heupel had five digs and 21 assists.

The win put the Rams at 4-13 in matches overall, and 1-4 in the HOIAC.
