Not too late to join the Amazing Race for Charity

The Amazing Race for Charity, slated for this Saturday, Sept. 29, has room for a few more teams, according to organizer Ian Wilkinson.

The Amazing Race for Charity is patterned after television’s “Amazing Race,” but the physical challenges are much easier to meet.

A few blocks is the longest distance involved, as the entire race will take place around Jefferson’s downtown square, with only two short jaunts to other locations.

Two-person teams will complete physical trials, mental challenges, and new experiences. Check-in will begin at 9 am at the Mahanay Memorial Carillon Tower, with the race starting at 10.

Proceeds from the event, derived from sponsorships and team registrations, will go to BOOST to benefit students and teachers n the Greene County school district.

Competitors should wear running shoes and comfortable weather-appropriate clothing. There will be a prize for the best team costume.

At least one person on each team will need a Smartphone to complete the challenges. A sense of humor is encouraged in both team members.

All race participants must be at least 14 years old. Participants ages 14-15 must be teamed with someone 18 years or older. Click here for more information.

The Amazing Race for Charity is spearheaded by Ian Wilkinson, who has been a fan of “Amazing Race” on television since it was first introduced. He hopes this year’s event will be the first of many, with a different charity receiving proceeds each year.

The Amazing Race for Charity is presented by Jefferson Matters: Main Street and Greene County Chamber and Tourism.
