A special unified service will be held Sunday, Sept. 23, at 10:30 am at Perry First UMC. Pastor Lee Schott from Women at the Well UMC at Mitchellville will preach. A special offering for Women at the Well will be received. The church is based inside the walls of the Iowa Correctional Institution. Pastor Lee is a frequent speaker outside the prison and the author of a forthcoming book, Learning Church We Did Not Mean to Go, which offers lessons for the church in the world, based on her experience of church inside the prison.
The Rippey Sunday school classes will begin at 9 am so local parish members have time to drive to Perry to attend the services.
Rippey Lions Club will meet Thursday, Sept. 20, at 7 pm for its regular meeting in the Rippey UMC. The ladies of the church will serve the meal with the business and program to follow.
