P-C v’ball team loses close home match to E-EHK

The Paton-Churdan Rockets won the first game when they hosted the Exira-EHK Spartans for volleyball Thursday, but lost three close games to go to 3-4 on the season.
Game scores were 25-20, 23-25, 25,27, 23-25.

Senior Megan Carey led the team in serving, making 17 of 18 serves for 94 percent. She led in kills with 18 and had 18 assists. Sophomore Chloe Berns had 18 assists. She made 15 of 18 serves for 83 percent but led the team in aces with five.

Sophomore Danielle Hoyle led in digs with 10 and had 14 kills. Sophomore Tessa Steimel made 18 of 20 serves for 90 percent and had 7 digs. Classmate Karissa Stephenson served at 88.9 percent and had seven digs.

The team served at 83.5 percent, just a shade off its season average of 84.5 percent.
