Scranton council continues search for new city clerk

The Scranton city council is continuing its search for a new city clerk. Melinda Hinners, who has worked as the clerk for several years, submitted her resignation in late June and began a new position in early July.

The council met in special session on Aug. 22 to interview a candidate. They met again on Aug. 30 to discuss the status of the clerk position. Because a candidate was not hired, the council decided to repost the position, calling for applications.

The position will remain open until filled. In the meantime, Hinners has agreed to assist the city with the clerk duties. Cindy Boyd is staffing city hall on a part-time basis.  ~The Scranton Journal
