JPD tells results of sTEP

Jefferson police officers made one arrest, wrote 20 citations and issued 154 warnings during a special Traffic Enforcement Project Aug. 17 through Sept. 3.

One driver was arrested for operating while intoxicated.

Citations were issued as follows: registration violations, five; equipment violations, five; speed, three; driving while license suspended or revoked, three; stop sign/traffic light, one; driving without a license, one; and other traffic violations, two.

Warnings were issued as follows: OWI or drug (test given, no arrest), one; equipment violations, 43; speed, 34; no proof of insurance, 29; registration violations, 16; dark windows, 11; seat belt violations eight; child restraint violations, two; stop sigh/traffic light, two; and other traffic violations, eight.

Officers assisted three motorists during that time.
