Star Party Sept. 7 at Whiterock Conservancy

The annual Star Party at Whiterock Conservancy is slated for Friday, Sept. 7, starting at 7:30 pm. The event is hosted by the Ames Area Amateur Astronomers.

Participants at the free event will be guided by astronomy enthusiasts to peer through telescopes at the wonders of the night sky. “It is amazing what you can see from one of the darkest places in Iowa – Whiterock Conservancy’s Star Field,” an organizer said.

Participants at the family-friendly event can wander from telescope to telescope looking at nebula, planets and more, while hearing from the astronomers the stories of the sky.

Persons should bring a blanket and dress for the evening weather.

The Whiterock Conservancy star field is located at 1523 140th St, Coon Rapids. Persons who want more information can call 712-790-8211 or email guestinfo@whiterockconservancy.org.
