Mini-Con coming to Jefferson Aug. 4

Area residents are invited to step through the Story Portal and join county librarians for the first ever GC Mini-Con. This FREE, family-friendly event will take place Saturday, Aug. 4, from 1 to 5 pm at the Greene County Community Center in Jefferson.

Events will include a sword demonstration by dojo owners Samurai Dan and Jillian at 1:30 pm. A costume contest and runway with Kohaku & Friends will follow the sword demonstration. Watch and visit with Troy Powers as he demonstrates lasers throughout the afternoon.

Costumes are encouraged and make it a more fun day for all. Attendees are encouraged to come dressed as their favorite comic book/anime/manga/sci-fi/movie/game/series character. Persons should sign up when they arrive to participate in the costume contest. Prizes will be awarded in kids, teen, adult categories, and judge’s favorite. This fun event is for all ages, so all costumes must be family-friendly.

Participants can register for door prizes, do a scavenger hunt, make a craft, and have a snack while strolling through the event. There will also be vendor tables with art, books, comics, and a variety of fandom merchandise for sale.
The GC Mini-Con is a cooperative project of the six public libraries in Greene County. It is sponsored by the Greene County board of supervisors.
