Invitational livestock show includes six county youth

The DMACC BEARDOWN is an invitation only livestock show for 4H & FFA exhibitors from Calhoun, Dallas, Greene, Jasper, Marshall, Polk and Story County. Qualifiers earned their right to participate by exhibiting county fair champion market and breeding animals in the beef, swine, sheep, and goat divisions. The BEARDOWN will take place Saturday, July 28, at 1 pm at the Story County Fairgrounds in Nevada. All are invited to attend.

The following young people from Greene County will vie for the title of BEARDOWN champion:

In the goat division, Taylor McDowell from Jefferson will contend for champion breeding doe. The candidate for champion market goat will be exhibited by Preston Kennedy from Grand Junction.

Kyle Hughes from Bagley will compete for the champion breeding swine banner. Izzy Bravard from Jefferson will drive for the backdrop as exhibitor of the champion market hog.

Scranton’s Garrett Peterson will pursue a win in the breeding ewe division while Elise Badger, Bagley, will hunt the honor of exhibiting the champion market lamb.
The breeding beef division will feature Elise Badger. The champion market beef show will spotlight Preston Kennedy.

BEARDOWN champions become eligible to go head to head against champions from eight other regions in the All-Iowa Showdown to be contested Aug.5 at the Southern Iowa Fairgrounds in Oskaloosa.

The BEARDOWN, organized and sponsored by the DMACC Agribusiness Club, is made possible by the generous support of many local businesses, livestock producers and organizations.
