JPD tells sTEP results

Jefferson police captain Heath Enns reports the JPD issued 16 citations and 73 warnings during a special Traffic Enforcement Project July 1-4.

Officers wrote citations as follows: stop sign violations, 3; driving while license suspended, 3; seat belt use, 2; registration violations, 2; no proof of insurance, 2; and speed, dark windows, equipment violations and other traffic violations, 1 each.

Warnings were given as follows: equipment violations, 21; speed, 12; seat belt use, 11; no proof of insurance, 10; dark windows, 7; registration violations, 5; texting while driving, 2; stop sign violation, 1; and other traffic violations, 3. An officer did one field sobriety test but did not arrest the driver.
