Grand Junction to host Summerfest July 27-28

Grand Junction will host a Summerfest celebration throughout the community on Friday and Saturday, July 27-28.

The events get under way on Friday, July 27, with a free outdoor family movie at the Grand Junction public library at 8:30 pm.

A number of activities are scheduled for Saturday, July 28:

A vendor fair will be held at the community center on Main Street from 10 am to 2 pm. The Summerfest parade will be at 11 am on Main Street.

Greene County Pork Producers and Junction Food Producers 4-H Club will serve a meal at 1 pm at the Grand Junction softball field east of the school building on 13th Street South.

A kickball tournament will get underway at 1 pm. Entry fee per team is $20 with each team comprised of 10 members. Ages 8 and older are eligible to be on a team but youth under age 18 must be accompanied by a guardian. Entry fee and completed forms need to be submitted at Grand Junction city hall by Friday, July 13.

A free throw contest will be held at the tennis court on Hager Street at 1 pm.
At 4 pm a bags tournament will get under way at the softball diamond.

A beer garden will be open at the softball field throughout the afternoon and evening. A DJ will provide music and entertainment from 4-11 pm.

Grand Junction park and recreation is sponsoring a free swim at the Grand Junction Municipal Pool from 6-8 p..

Park and recreation is also sponsoring a Summerfest Glow-Run at 8:45 pm along a 5K route through town. The event is a fun running and walking event. Entry fee is $20 per person and includes a T-shirt and a bag of glow-goodies. The start and finish will be at the community center. Persons who want to register can visit  https://racesonline.com/events/summerfest-fun-run. Enter by July 13 to guarantee a T-shirt.
