Brightly painted red window boxes brimming with flowers and a matching red
front door welcome visitors to the home of Tina and Tony Sparks, the
Jefferson Garden Club’s July “Yard of the Month” selection. They are
pictured with son, Joshuah.
Curb appeal begins at the front of the property at 307 N. Locust St with a
carefully constructed field stone bank composed of 15 tons of rock hauled in
from the farm of a friend. Wrapping around the front of the lawn to the
north, the stones create a new planting area in a shaded area that the
Sparks are working to fill. The whole project was completed this spring
before the graduation of their daughter, Abbie.
Drifts of vivid daylilies surround the home’s foundation and lead to a
private, vintage decorated patio filled with pots of colorful blooms. The
club presented Tina with a bouquet of fresh flowers and the club’s sign will
be posted all month.
