Teachers attend reading conference

Greene County teachers Stormy Fish, Connie Hoffman, Julie Neal, Amanda Huff, Michelle Wilkening, Kristen Heupel, Annette Coil, and LeeAnna Ausberger attended the Iowa Reading Conference in Ames June 26-27.

Reading researcher and author Stephanie Harvey speaks about strategies to teach reading comprehension

The theme of this year’s conference was “Literacy Landmarks”. The teachers attended various workshops on literacy topics such as reading, writing, vocabulary, comprehension, dyslexia, and content area reading. They met famous reading researchers and great children’s authors.

Everything they learned will help enhance their classroom instruction this fall, reading specialist Julie Neal said.
