Greene County district court, week ending June 14

In Greene County district court Adam James Stilson, 20, of Polk City was granted a deferred judgment June 8 after he pleaded guilty to a charge of aid or abet threatening intimidation with a dangerous weapon. He was placed on probation for two years. A civil penalty of $750 was suspended. Stilson must pay restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees not to exceed $2,000, victim restitution to be determined, and $182.54 court costs. Charges of intimidation with a dangerous weapon to injure/provoke fear, harassment- first degree, criminal mischief- third degree, and reckless use of firearm causing property damage were dismissed. The charges are the result of a shooting 12/03/2017 in the neighborhood of W. Lincoln Way and Pinet St. (Sentencing: Honorable Joseph B. McCarville)

Justin Ray Lopes, 20, of Jefferson was sentenced to 30 days in jail after he pleaded guilty to a charge of possession of marijuana, amended from manufacture, deliver or possess marijuana with intent to deliver. All but six days of the jail sentence was suspended; the sentence is consecutive to the sentence in another Greene County case. Lopez will be on unsupervised probation for one year. He must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommended treatment at his own expense. His driver’s license is revoked for 180 days. Lopez must pay sheriff’s room and board charges for the jail time he serves, a $315 fine with a $110.25 surcharge, a $10 surcharge for drug abuse resistance education (DARE), a $125 Law Enforcement Initiative surcharge, $600 restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees, and $202.25 court costs. Anthony Crook, 33, of Jefferson was granted a deferred judgment after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of gambling- false statement on employment application. He will be on probation for one year. He must pay a civil penalty to $625, restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees not to exceed $550, and $100 court costs. (Sentencing: McCarville)

Nathaniel Clark Aldrich, 30, of Jefferson was sentenced to two years in prison after he pleaded guilty to a charge of domestic abuse assault causing bodily injury- second offense, amended from domestic abuse assault impeding blood/air flow. All but two days of the prison term was suspended and he was placed on probation for two years. Aldrich must complete the Iowa domestic abuse program, and he must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommended treatment at his own expense. He was fined $625 with a $218.75 surcharge; both were suspended. He must pay sheriff’s room and board fees for the jail time he served, restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees not to exceed $1,200, a $100 domestic abuse assault surcharge, and $695.50 court costs. Travis Frederick Venteicher, 35, of Grand Junction was fined $100 with a $35 surcharge after he pleaded guilty to a charge of assault- simple, amended from assault causing bodily injury or mental illness. He must also pay restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees not to exceed $600 and $96 court costs. (Sentencing: McCarville)

Bradley Allen Conklin, 35, of Jefferson was sentenced to 30 days in jail after he pleaded guilty to a charge of possession of marijuana- first offense, amended from possession of marijuana- third offense. All but two days of the jail time was suspended and he was placed on informal probation for one year. He must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommended treatment at his own expense. He was fined $315 with a $110.25 surcharge, a $125 LEI surcharge and a $10 DARE surcharge. Conklin also changed his plea to guilty to a charge of driving while license barred. He was fined $625 with a $218.75 surcharge; both were suspended. He was sentenced to 10 days in jail, consecutive to the time in the controlled substance charge. He must pay restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees not to exceed $1,000 and $100 court costs. He must pay sheriff’s room and board fees and his driver’s license was revoked for 180 days. A charge against Conklin in magistrate court of possession of drug paraphernalia was dismissed. (Sentencing: McCarville)

Courtney Lynn Morlan, 19, of Jefferson was granted a deferred judgment after she changed her plea to guilty to a charge of unauthorized use of credit card less than $1000. She will be on informal probation for two years. A civil penalty of $625 was suspended. She must pay a $125 LEI surcharge and $140 court costs. (Sentencing: McCarville)

Persons pleaded not guilty in district court as follows: Joseph Aaron Pritchard, 26, of Fort Dodge, driving while license barred. His trial date was set for Aug. 21.

Information is available since the return of an arrest warrant that Leslie Christine Miller, 23, of Jefferson has been charged with possession of marijuana. The warrant was issued 3/21 and returned 6/11.

Information is available since the return of an arrest warrant that Rexo Lucas Mackey, 37, of Gueda Springs, KS, has been charged with theft- first degree and ongoing criminal conduct. The warrant was issued 5/21 and returned 6/14.

Cases were initiated in district court as follows: Ryan James Brown, 45, of Jefferson, burglary- second degree, domestic abuse assault- second offense, and driving while license barred; and Jerry Jeff Kennedy, 38, of Dallas Center, possession of marijuana.
