Greene County district court, week ending May 31

In Greene County district court Bradley Keith Langfitt, 47, of Dana was sentenced to 10 days in jail after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of possession of methamphetamine. The jail time was suspended and he was placed on unsupervised probation for one year. He must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommended treatment at his own expense. His driver’s license was revoked for 180 days. Langfitt was fined $315 with a $110.25 surcharge, a $10 surcharge for drug abuse resistance education (DARE) and a $125 Law Enforcement Initiative (LEI) surcharge. Court costs were $100. A judgment was entered against Joe Edward Blackmon, 42, of Scranton after he changed his plea to guilty to charges of possession of methamphetamine and eluding. On the possession charge he was sentenced to two days in jail. The jail time was suspended. The minimum fine and surcharge were suspended, but he must pay a $10 DARE surcharge and a $125 LEI surcharge. His driver’s license was revoked for 180 days. On the eluding charge he was sentenced to time served. The minimum fine and surcharge were suspended. The judge ruled he is unable to pay restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees. Crystal Kay Conroy, 54, of Scranton was sentenced to two years in prison after she pleaded guilty to a charge of credit card fraud (aggravated misdemeanor), amended from credit card fraud more than $10,000. The prison term was suspended and she was placed on unsupervised probation for two years.  Conroy was fined $625 with a $218.75 surcharge; both were suspended. She must pay $6,000 victim restitution. The court ruled that she is unable to pay restitution for her court appointed attorney’s feed. She must pay a $125 LEI surcharge and $658.70 court costs. (Sentencing: McCarville)

Jams Harris, 30, of Woodward was sentenced to one year in the county jail after he pleaded guilty to domestic assault causing bodily injury. All but 50 days of the jail time was suspended, with the sentence consecutive to the sentence in another Greene County case. He was placed on probation for one year, and he must complete the Iowa domestic abuse program. Harris was fined $315 with a $110.25 surcharge and a $10 DARE surcharge. Court costs were $426. Persons pleaded not guilty at arraignment as follows: Trinity Glen Welch, 29, of Jefferson, domestic abuse assault display or use weapon; Jody Lyn Schad, 42, of Jefferson, domestic abuse assault causing injury or mental illness; Tony Lynn Hatting, 45, of Scranton, domestic abuse assault causing injury or mental illness; and Michael Allen Eberle, 67, of Dana, felon in possession of firearm. Trial dates were set for July 17 in every case.

Cases were initiated in district court as follows: Troy Michael Shaw, 26, of Harcourt, possession of heroin; Jackie D. Cram, 23, of Jefferson, driving while license barred; and Alex Duncan Dankel, 24, of Scranton, operating while intoxicated- second offense.

A case initiated in juvenile court was waived to district court by the Honorable William Ostlund. Noah Adam Bowen, 17, of Jefferson has been charged with burglary- second degree.
