Greene County senior Rachael Danielson earned her third trip to the girls state golf tournament, placing second at the regional meet Monday at Willow Vale Golf Course in Mapleton.

Danielson shot an 83, 10 strokes over defending state champion Annika Patten of Alta-Aurelia.

“Rachael really played great today and showed maturity and confidence throughout the day. She played her best golf of the season and one hole kept her score from being much lower,” coach Heath Telleen said. “Rachael should go into the state tournament with some lofty goals.”

Patten’s qualifying score is the lowest across the state; eight golfers qualified with scores lower than Danielson’s 73. Danielson qualified for the state meet her sophomore and junior years.

The state tournament is Tuesday and Wednesday, May 29-30, with 2A play at Lake Panorama National Golf Course in Panora.
