Greene County district court, week ending May 17

In Greene County district court Chad Alvin Prichard, 36, of Arcadia was sentenced May 14 to two years in prison after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of driving while license barred. The prison term was suspended and he was placed on probation for two years. Prichard was fined $625 with a $218.75 surcharge. He must pay $500 restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees and $136 court costs. (Sentencing: Honorable Joseph B. McCarville)

Bradley Jon Van Wyk, 64, of Ames was sentenced to five years in prison after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of burglary- third degree. He was sentenced to five years in prison. The prison term was suspended and he was placed on probation for three years. He must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommended treatment at his own expense. Van Wyk was fined $750 with a $262.50 surcharge; both were suspended. He must pay $1,200 restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees, $870 victim restitution, and $180 court costs. Amanda Jo Goodpaster was sentenced to two concurrent six-month terms in jail after she changed her plea to guilty to two counts of assault on a peace officer causing bodily injury. All but six days of each of the jail terms was suspend and she was placed on probation for two years. She must pay sheriff’s room and board fees for the time she serves. Goodpaster was fined $625 with a $218.75 surcharge on each charge; the fines and surcharges were suspended. She must pay $800 restitution for her court appointed attorney’s fees and $900 court costs. A charge of assault on a peace officer was dismissed. (Sentencing: McCarville)

Persons pleaded not guilty at arraignments as follows: Brent Edward Bast, 46, of Jefferson, driving while license barred; Kole Alexander Higgins, 23, of Grand Junction, driving while license barred, and in a separate case unlawful possession of prescription drug, possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, gathering where controlled substances are used, keeping premises or vehicle for controlled substance violation, and failure to affix tax stamp; Justin Jeffrey Baker,31, of Grand Junction, possession of controlled substance- third or subsequent offense; and Shane Detlef Coil, 28, of Jefferson, driving while license barred. Trial dates were set for July 17 in every case.

Cases were initiated in district court as follows: Michael Allen Eberle, 67, of Dana, felon in possession of a firearm; Kylene Suzanne Rabourne, 39, of Grand Junction, theft- first degree, forgery, and identity left more than $1,000 but less than $10,000; Johnnie Adam Jackson, 55, of Linden, burglary- third degree, theft- fourth degree, and criminal mischief- third degree; James Marvin Holmberg, 52, of Boone, possession of methamphetamine and possession of marijuana; Joseph Aaron Pritchard, 26, of Fort Dodge, driving while license barred; and Jesus Moises Zuniga Jr, 19, of Jefferson, conspiracy to deliver marijuana and obstructing prosecution.
