This year’s Ding Dong Dash will have a bit of Bark added. Dogs are invited to join their masters for the 5K, 10K and 1-mile fun run held as part of the Bell Tower Festival Saturday, June 9.

Canines will be raising money for a new animal shelter in Jefferson. The registration fee for the 5K and 10K is an additional $10. All dogs will receive a scarf and a treat, and their humans will receive a T-shirt. Dogs can join the 1-mile fun run at no additional fee, but their humans will not receive a T-shirt.

Registration fees increase June 1. Persons who register after May 25 are not guaranteed a T-shirt.

The chip-timed course starts and finishes at the Greene County Community Center. The route is on residential streets, all on the east side of Elm St. Only major intersections will be controlled; runners must take caution of traffic coming from side streets and driveways. Water and first aid will be offered at the halfway mark.

Pre-race registration will be from 7 to 7:45 am at the Community Center. The 1-mile fun run starts at 8 am and the 5K and 10K start at 8:20. Winners of medals for first and second place in each age division will be announced at about 9:30 am.

Registration forms are available at the Greene County Chamber and Tourism website. Persons who want more information can call the Community Center at 515-386-3412.
