Middle school girls track & field update

The Greene County seventh and eighth grade girls track teams competed at Carroll’s 22nd Al Molitor Relays in Jefferson on Monday, April 30. Carroll’s track and football field is being renovated.

The seventh grade Rams finished fourth among the eight teams competing. Natalie Heupel, Olivia Shannon, Madison Kinsey, Alexa Peters grabbed a gold medal in the 4×400 relay.

“It was a very windy night, but our girls came through with some good times,” said seventh grade coach, Roger Olhausen.

The eighth grade finished eighth. They had one event that earned a gold medal. Maddie Van Pelt was first in the 200-meter hurdles.

“The girls continue to work hard to improve their distances and times,” noted eighth grade coach Teresa Green.

HOIAC track and field meet

The Greene County middle school girls track team placed eighth at the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference meet Friday night at Saydel.

North Polk dominated the field, amassing 192 points for the championship. Roland-Story was a distant second at 107.

200-meters – Maddie Van Pelt 29.67, fourth
200-meter hurdles – Maddie Van Pelt 33.44, fifth
