Pair of Greene Co students place first at state physics contest

The Greene County High School physics competition team participated in the state physics competition on Tuesday, April 10. The event was hosted by the University of Northern Iowa department of physics in the UNI McLeod Center.

Junior Linsey Kitt and senior Regan Lamoureux placed first in the Challenge Problem event by earning an impressive 199.23 points out of 200 and finishing well before the 30 minute time period ran out.

The state qualifiers were Linsey Kitt and Regan Lamoureux in Challenge Problem, Megan Durbin and Rachael Danielson in catapult, Alex Roberts and Luis Velazco in mousetrap car, Megan Durbin and Haley Hall in toothpick bridge building, and Ellie Madson and Kassie Lamoureux in soda straw arm.

This is the second year Greene County has participated in the regional and state competitions. The team is coached by Launa Buxton and Luke Boyd.
