Ram girls finish first, boys second in Carroll coed relays

The Greene County girls track and field team placed first and the boys placed second in the Carroll High School Relays held April 10.

The girls won five events, with three of the wins coming from senior Megan Durbin. Durbin, state champion in the high jump her sophomore year and state runner-up her junior year,  won that event  with a jump of 5′ 4″. She also won the girls 200 meter dash in 27:03 and the 400 meter dash in 1:03.27. Melanie Doran won the 100 meter hurdles in 18.18. Janelle Brophy won the long jump with a leap of 16’5”. Teammate Brianna Osterson was in second place at 15’ 11”.

Doran placed second in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:15.46, just .11 behind the first place finisher. The 4 X 100 meter relay of Doran, Osterson, Lillian Muir and Durbin placed second with a time of 54.00.

Third place finishes for the Rams came from Doran in the 100 meter dash in 13:70, Osterson in the 400 meter dash with a time of 1:06.96, Muir in the 400 meter hurdles in 1:20.0, and Brooklyn Olson I the shot put with a throw of 30’ 0”. Teammate Laurin Lyons also threw 30’ 0” for fourth place.

Team scores for the girls were not available as they had to be recalculated due to errors in scoring the high jump. Places were Greene County,  IKM-Manning, Carroll, Webster City, Woodward-Granger, Perry, Roland-Story, and Audubon.

In boys competition, Colby Kafer won the 200 meter dash in 24.21. He also won the long jump at 19l’ 5”. Noah Bowen won the 1600 meter run in 4:47.30, and Carter Morton won the 110 meter hurdles in 16.16. Kolin Reed won the high jump, clearing the bar at 6’ 0”. Morton placed second at 6’ 1”.

The 4 X 100 meter relay team of Clint Dennhardt, Lance Hughes, Jordan Paterson and Tyler Teeples placed second with a time of 46.23. In the 4 X 110 meter shuttle hurdle relay Austin Delp, Nick Breon, Xavier Hayes and Morton finished second with a time of 1:07.02.

Third place finishes came from Colby Kafer in the 100 meter dash with a time of 11.93, the distance medley relay team of Brent Riley, Austin Delp, Teeples and Bowen in 3:55.12

Team scores for the boys were Webster City 137, Greene County 97, Carroll 90, Woodward-Granger 80, Perry 69, IKM-Manning 66, and Audubon 50.
