V’ball team donates to Relay for Life

Seniors from the 2017 Ram volleyball team recently presented a check for $1,200 to the Relay for Life of Greene County.

The donation represents three seasons of “Purple Out” games, raffles, jersey sales and passing the hat. Pancreatic cancer awareness and research has been their focus, coach Donna Carhill explained. She described her teams in recent years as “good kids doing good stuff.”

The Relay for Life of Greene County is slated for Saturday, April 21, from 9:30 am to 2 pm at the Greene County Community Center. This year’s super heroes theme asks, “Who’s Your Hero?”

The Relay will include a community barbecue with pork burgers and hamburgers grilled by the Pork Producers and Cattlemen, entertainment, a silent auction, a 5K run/walk preceded by a six-block “Heroes in Training” run, and the traditional reception and luminaria ceremony honoring cancer survivors and caregivers.

All proceeds will go to the American Cancer Society to help in its efforts to provide patient support, advocacy, and research.
