To the Editor:

My husband and I moved to Jefferson in the fall of 2016. Though we are new to the community, this is our home where we plan to settle down and raise our children. The new school bond is exciting because not only will it benefit all children in Greene County, it will also safeguard the future of our community.

A computer company, Pillar Technology, will have a business in Jefferson when the bond is passed. This is just the start of the economic development we will see when the bond passes. The regional academy will provide classes that will allow future generations to be employable here in town, and give companies in Jefferson a quality workforce. This is vital.

I grew up in the small town of Red Oak, where Parker Hannifin is a big employer. I worked for this company as a supervisor, and we often struggled to find quality employees who would stay and grow with the company. If businesses can’t find employees where they are, they will go to communities where more employees can be found. Let Jefferson be that place. Let our current businesses grow and bring new ones to town. Growing our workforce is growing our community and opportunities for all. That is why I will be voting yes on April 3rd: Not just for our kids, but for our future in Greene County.
