Students do well at individual district speech contest

The Greene County High School speech team had 11 students and 15 events at the district individual speech contest at Boone High School last Saturday. Of those, 11 events received “1” ratings and will move on to the state contest at Nevada High School March 10.

Receiving “I” ratings were Josey Weaver, prose; Regan Lamoureux, reviewing; Jordan Davis, prose and poetry; Naomi Long, poetry; Arthur Bardole, solo musical theater and storytelling; Emma McColley, poetry; Kassie Lamoureux, prose; and Natalie Payan, literary program and poetry.

Receving “II” ratings were Kara Betts, solo musical theater; Maezie Holderby, poetry; and Morrgan Zmolek, acting and storytelling.

Speech coach Kelley Gray said the weather last week and time missed from school resulted in many students dropping their events due to limited practice time.
