Ram girls lose 66-42 in first round regional play to end hoops season

The Ram girls wrapped up their 2017-18 hoops campaign with a 66-42 loss Saturday in Sac City to East Sac County in Class 3A Region 8 play.

The score was tied at nine points after the first eight minutes of play, but the Raiders outscored the Rams in the second quarter to take a 27-19 lead into the locker room at halftime. Ram sophomore Kassie Lamoureux made a pair of 3-point baskets early in the second half and put the Rams to within five points of the Raiders early in the half. The Raiders went to work and owned the rest of the game. They were ahead 46-29 after three quarters, and the then outscored the Rams by 9 more points in the fourth quarter on their way to the 66-42 victory.

The Raiders made nine 3-point shots, while the Rams made five, more than their season average.

Senior Laurin Lyons scored 12 points to lead the Rams, as she has in many games over the past two years. She also led the Rams in rebounds with five. Sophomore Kassie Lamoureux, perhaps the most improved player on the team, scored 10 points. Seniors Samantha Hardaway and Onica Delp scored eight and six points respectively. Sophomore Izzy Bravard scored four points and senior Regan Lamoureux scored two.

The game finished the high school careers of Lyons, Hardaway, Delp, Regan Lamoureux, Caytlyn Adamson, Emily Bettey, Ashley Millard and Katlyn McColley.

The Rams closed the season with a 5-15 record under head coach Dean Lyons.
