JPRD tells upcoming programs

The Jefferson park and recreation department is taking registrations for three popular upcoming programs.

The annual Daddy Daughter Dance is slated for Friday, Feb. 16, from 6:30 to 9 pm at the Greene County Community Center. Fathers, grandfathers, and father figures are invited to bring their special girl for an evening of fun and dancing. Musical Edge Sound and Lighting Design will set the mood and provide music. Refreshments will be provided and Meythaler Photography will be there to take photos.

The Daddy Daughter Dance is open to girls in grades pre-K through fifth. The registration deadline is Feb. 11. Cost is $20 per couple and $5 for an additional girl.

Indoor soccer for youngsters in grades 3-6 will start Monday, Feb. 19. Students in grades 3-4 will meet from 5:30 to 6:10 pm, and students in grades 5-6 will meet from 6:15 to 7:15 at the community center. Sessions will be Mondays through March 13. Indoor soccer is a good game to improve balance and footwork for the outdoor season.

Dog obedience classes will start Tuesday, Feb. 20, and run through May 3, from 6:30 to 7:30 pm. The class will be held at the community center. Linn Cipperly-Price, LVT, teaches pet owners how to train their dogs to sit, stay, heel, and come when called.

A new “Tricks” class will meet after the obedience class for 30 minutes. The class promises fun for dogs and their owners, too.

Persons who want more information or to register for JPRD programs can visit the community center at 204 W. Harrison St or call 515-386-3412.
