Greene County district court, week ending Jan. 11

In Greene County district court Danielle Rae Dawson, 34, of Grimes was sentenced to two two-year prison terms Jan. 2 after she changed her plea to guilty to two counts of unlawful use of credit card less than $1,000. The prison terms were suspended and she was placed on probation for two years. Dawson was fined $625 with a $218.75 surcharge on each county. The fines and surcharges were suspended. She must pay a total of $1,819 on the two counts to which she pleaded guilty, and she must also pay restitution on six counts of unauthorized use of credit card less than $1,000 which were dismissed as part of a plea agreement. The judge ruled she is unable to pay restitution for her court appointed attorney’s fees. Court costs were $100. (Sentencing: Honorable Joseph B. McCarville)

Dray Rivera, 27, of Jefferson was sentenced Jan. 9 to two 30-day jail terms after he pleaded guilty to charges of harassment and trespass, both simple misdemeanors. The jail terms are to be concurrent and he is to received credit for time served. Rivera must pay sheriff’s room and board fees for the time he serves and $60 court costs. He was initially charged with burglary- third degree. (Sentencing: McCarville)

Damien Michael Schwering, 24, of Scranton was fined $1,000 with a $350 surcharge after he pleaded guilty at arraignment to a charge of driving while license revoked. Court costs were $100. (Sentencing: McCarville)

Persons pleaded not guilty at arraignments as follows: Bradley Jon Vanwyk, 64, of Ames, burglary- third degree; Cody James Schulte, 29, of Lytton, forgery (three counts) and ongoing criminal conduct; Jake Allen Cretsinger, 19, of Waukee, intimidation with dangerous weapon to injure or provoke fear, harassment- first degree, criminal mischief- third degree and reckless use of firearm causing property damage; Douglas Wayne Shutt, 56, of Grand Junction, failure to affix tax stamp, unlawful possession of prescription drug, possession of controlled substance- second offense (three counts), and possession of marijuana- second offense; Charles Samuel Wolf, 43, of Jefferson, domestic abuse assault with intent to inflict serious injury; and Dewayne Edward Phipps, 30, of Ogden, driving while license barred. Trial dates were set for Feb. 27 for every defendant except Schulte. His trial date was set for March 26.

Cases were initiated in district court as follows: Derek Eugene Ott, 37, of Jefferson, ongoing criminal conduct (Class B felony); Anthony Crook, 33, of Jefferson, gambling- false statement on application; Rob Jonathan Herridge, 23, of Jefferson, child endangerment, possession of marijuana- first offense, and intent to manufacture, deliver or possess marijuana; Gary Lee Bundy Jr, 44, of Jamaica, theft- third degree; Roxanne Kay Malone, 47, of Grand Junction, domestic abuse assault- second offense; and Zachery Allen Waters, 21, of Paton, burglary- third degree.
