More meetings on proposed high school, career academy slated

Community meetings are scheduled next week by OPN Architects to gather more input before developing a design concept for the Greene County Schools’ proposed high school and career academy.

OPN was hired by the Greene County board of education to assist with a community-initiated bond referendum.

Meetings are planned as follows:

• Wednesday, Jan. 10, 5:30 pm – Grand Junction Community Center
• Wednesday, Jan.10, 7:30 pm – Greene County Community Center in Jefferson
• Thursday, Jan. 11, 8:30 am – Scranton Community Center
• Thursday, Jan. 11, 10:30 am – Rippey Community Center.

The OPN meetings will last 60-75 minutes. The public is encouraged to attend.

School board member Dr Steve Karber has also planned community meetings around the district to gather input on the proposed project.

If community input warrants proceeding with the project, it is the intention of the board of education to hold a special election on a bond referendum April 3.
