Greene County district court, week ending Dec. 21

In Greene County district court a judgment was entered Dec. 8 against James Kenneth Harris, 30, of Jefferson after he changed his plea to guilty to charge of domestic abuse assault. He was sentenced to 30 days in jail and must pay sheriff’s room and board fees for the time he serves. He shall not possess, ship, transport or receive offensive weapons or ammunition, and he must complete the Iowa domestic abuse program at his own expense. Harris was fined $315 with a $110.25  surcharge. Court costs were $210.72. Another case in which Harris was charged with domestic abuse assault causing injury or mental illness was dismissed, as was a case in magistrate court in which Harris was charged with violation of a protective order. Persons pleaded not guilty at arraignment as follows: Joshua Jerome Baker, 31, of Leon possession of marijuana- first offense. A trial date was set for Jan. 23.

Cases were initiated as follows: Devonte Tindell Edwards, 19, of Jefferson, possession of marijuana- first offense; Margaret Jessica Ruth Wilson, 41, of Cherokee, possession of methamphetamine- second offense; Jennifer Marie Ashby, 45, of Jefferson, false report of indictable offense to public entity; Joseph Allen Thomas, 39, of Des Moines, sex offender registry violation- first offense; Michelle Lyn Paradise, 44, of Jefferson, domestic abuse assault- third or subsequent offense; Shane Christopher Jewett, 41, of Paton, operating while intoxicated- first offense; and Jose Trinidad Hernandez, 41, of Grand Junction, driving while license barred.
