JPRD to swap canned goods for daily entry to community center

Two popular events are on the calendar soon at the Greene County Community Center.

From Dec. 26 through Jan. 3, daily entry for non-members is free with the donation of a non-perishable food item. All items collected will be taken to the Greene County Christian Action Resource Center food pantry.

“Doing the food drive in place of the daily fees makes it a lot easier for families with out-of-town guests and for kids without memberships who want a place to hang out with friends,” said Vicky Lautner, Jefferson park and recreation director said. “And, it’s a good way for all of us to help out the food pantry.”

Also, Jan. 6-7 is the annual free weekend. All are invited to visit the community center and see what is available there. A drawing will be held for a free adult membership.

The community center will be open from 12 to 3 pm Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve. It will be closed Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.
