FoodSafe class in Jefferson Jan. 16

Keep food safe and protecting against the costly nightmare of a foodborne-illness outbreak are vitally important to food service establishments.

ISU Extension and Outreach – Greene County is offering the ServSafe® class for food service professionals Tuesday, Jan. 16, from 8:30 to 5:30 pm at the First Presbyterian Church in Jefferson. Instructor will be Holly Van Heel, human sciences specialist in health and wellness for ISU Extension and Outreach.

ServSafe®, food safety training for foodservice managers and workers, provides knowledge every provider must know about food handling practices, food safety management systems and regulatory requirements.

This course meets the state of Iowa’s certified food protection manager requirements.

Registration deadline is Dec. 26 and is through ISU’s online registration system. To register, persons should visit http://bit.ly/ISUServsafe. Cost for the course and test is $150. There is a discounted rate of $100 for members of the Iowa Restaurant Association. Test only options start at $50. A photo ID is required to take the certification exam.
